Like the saying goes…prevention is far better than cure, (pardon the pun!) which certainly applies to paint plant machinery, professional finishing lines and conveyor systems.

Preventative maintenance on a regular basis, as a routine part of your paint line conveyor system greatly extends the lifespan of your machinery and equipment. Whilst also reducing the cost of of expediting replacement parts.

Regular and correct cleaning also helps ensure the desired output of parts passing through the paint line conveyor system. Not to forget the efficiency of your plant will be greatly improved if it’s kept clean and operating efficiently, energy savings can be achieved.

Daily Checks

One of the simplest yet most important things that can be done to ensure your paint plant, conveyor system or finishing line is operating as it should, is daily health checks. Use a checklist for reference and make it part of your daily routine.

This includes checking for general wear and tear, grease or drippings of liquid, worn or failing parts (strange operating noises are usually an indicator of a failing or worn part).

Maintenance Checks and Documentation

Records are vital, we cannot stress this enough. Keeping records of regular of maintenance checks is essential to be able to pinpoint when equipment needs to be repaired or parts replaced. Keeping records similar to records a car dealership would keep for repair work on your vehicle.

When your paint line conveyor system is under planned shutdown for thorough cleaning and more extensive maintenance checks, your records of detailed maintenance checks will serve well to prioritize which areas of your system require the most attention.

Conveyor System Cleaning

It’s safe to say, industrial manufacturing facilities aren’t always the most clean of places! Paint lines and conveyor systems are prone to contaminants. Considering paint and powder are sprayed as parts pass through the spray booth section of the conveyor system, overspray can be a common factor causing build up.

When your paint line is shutdown on scheduled maintenace and offline, take this time to remove dust, dirt and debris. As well as look for araes of paint build up in your conveyor system and remove.

It goes without saying, or should that regular cleaning of your conveyor system does help prevent bigger and costly issues further down the road.
